Lydia Rae

April 17, 2018

Waking up this morning to my daughter's 4th birthday flooded my heart with thankfulness. And gratefulness.

When you almost lose something and then get to keep it...I dare say that it becomes a little more precious. Lydia Rae is exactly that to me.

Shortly after we discovered and announced we were expecting, I started miscarrying. It was painfully terrifying. I spent 12 hours mostly curled up in a ball. Cramping. Bleeding. Crying. Praying. Asking God to do what only He could do.

I came across a scripture to cling to and I stayed up for most of the night committing it to memory: "Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, "Live!" Ezekiel 16:6

The next day I went to the doctor to confirm a miscarriage. Prepared for heartbreaking results, you can imagine my shock as they found a heartbeat!

God spoke, "Live!" and seven-months later I delivered my miscarriage-miracle baby.

And today, she's FOUR! She's beautiful, sweet, and kind - and a daily reminder of God's goodness and grace.
